Sri Lanka’s remote state run hospital wins ‘National Quality Award’

A state run hospital situated in the Eastern town of Ampara has clinched the ‘National Quality Award’ by beating large number of private and public sector companies, who were competing for the title.

Accordingly, the General Hospital of Ampara received the award at the 19th Sri Lanka National Quality Awards (SLNQA) held last evening in Colombo.

Ministry of Industry and Commerce says, SLNQA puts recipients on the cutting edge of an international quality competition.

It says, the criteria used in selecting winners in this competition is similar to the criteria used for the “Malcom Baldrige” Quality Award in USA which is also being used in more than 80 countries for their national quality awards.

The annual event is organized by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution.

Small, Medium and Large corporations of both the public and private sector has taken part in the competition.
