GSP + loss : Ranil laments Govt.’s unconcern , says still not too late

UNP and opposition leader Ranil Wickremesinghe speaking at Sri Kotha yesterday (21) about the prospective loss of the GSP+ concessions ,deeply lamented the Govt.’s unconcern for the welfare of the country, people and the workers.

The GSP + is a boon to the country’s economy . Loss of this concession will render many thousands of workers in Industries jobless and deal a huge blow to the Export Industry. The Govt. after the GSP + was suspended recently by the EU is seeking to lodge a complaint with the WTO . This move will not bear fruits. The govt. could have easily put everything on track if it had acted early without riding on a wave of arrogance criticizing all and sundry, he pointed out.
